  • Is Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum just for children?
    • No, people of all ages enjoy the Museum. You are never too young or too old to ignite your imagination!
  • What are Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum’s holiday hours?
    • The Museum is OPEN on the following holidays:
      • Easter Sunday: Regular Hours
      • New Year's Eve: Regular Hours
    • The Museum is CLOSED on the following holidays:
      • Memorial Day
      • Independence Day
      • Labor Day
      • Thanksgiving
      • Christmas Eve
      • Christmas Day
      • New Year's Day (Jan 1)
  • Is there a group rate or a family rate at Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum?
    • A group of 15 or more children along with their adult chaperones can book admission to the Museum at a group field trip rate of $10 per child. Minimum two days advance registration is required. There is not a family rate. For more information on booking field trips see our field trip page.
  • How can I pay for admission to Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum?
    • The Museum accepts cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Admission can be paid upon arrival at the admissions desk, or you can purchase tickets in advance online.
  • Where do people park when visiting Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum?
  • Are there any restaurants close to the Museum?
    • Yes, there are many great places to eat within a few minutes walk. You may check with the admissions desk for a map of nearby restaurants.
  • Are there lockers available at Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum?
    • Yes, we have lockers available in our coat room. They cost $.50 per use.
  • When is the quietest time for my family to visit Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum?
    • From January through August the Museum can be quite busy with school field trips on weekday mornings. On most days field trip visitors have left by around 2:00, so weekday afternoons are usually quieter. For the most accurate information we suggest that you call ahead to find out how many field trip visitors we expect to be here on the day you plan to visit. Weekends are frequently busy all day, but will be quieter on days when it is sunny and mild outside. September, October and November are our quietest months.
  • Is it possible to leave Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and return that same day?
    • Admission is good for the day. If you wish to leave and return, you must show your receipt at the admissions desk at re-entry.
  • Can I use my membership from another museum to visit Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum?
    • Yes, the Museum participates in the ASTC passport program and the ACM reciprocal program. You must be a member of a fellow ASTC or ACM museum to receive free or reduced admission. Memberships from ASTC museums located within 90 miles will be charged 1/2 price admission. For complete information about membership reciprocity, see the Membership Reciprocity page.
  • Do you sell Gift Cards?
    • Yes, you can buy them in person, over the phone, or online. Gift Cards can be used for any purchase at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, including admissions, memberships, programs, and gift shop purchases.
  • Does Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum offer donations to my fundraiser event?
    • The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is proud to give back to the community that supports our education mission by donating passes to schools and parent teacher organizations. Please note that we receive hundreds of requests for donated items and are only able to give one gift certificate to a school per 12-month period. We are not accepting applications from other groups such as scouts, 4H clubs, fraternal organizations, little league and sports events, medical research and patient support groups, etc. To request a donated item, please fill out and submit this form.
  • Is Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum run by the City of Ann Arbor?
    • No, Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum is not managed or funded by the City of Ann Arbor. We are an independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
  • What is Unity In Learning?
    • Unity In Learning is a partnership between three organizations: Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, Leslie Science & Nature Center, and Michigan Flight Museum & Air Adventures. Through this partnership, educators from Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and Leslie Science & Nature Center are able to provide high quality education programming for all three sites across Southeast Michigan.

    • Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, together with Leslie Science & Nature Center, created the Unity In Learning partnership. Unity In Learning has now grown to include other organizations.

  • Where is Leslie Science & Nature Center located?
  • What are the hours for Leslie Science & Nature Center?
    • The grounds, trails, and raptor enclosures are open to the public year round from dawn to dusk.
    • The administrative office is currently closed.
    • The Critter House is open to the public on select days.
    • Our other facilities are utilized for education programs, rentals, and office space; and are not open to the public.
  • Do you take in injured wildlife at Leslie Science & Nature Center?
  • Where can we park when visiting Leslie Science & Nature Center?
    • We have a convenient parking lot at the end of our entrance drive.
  • Are there public restrooms at Leslie Science & Nature Center?
    • There are no indoor public restrooms. During peak summer season there is a porta-potty near the parking lot.
  • Can I bring my dog to Leslie Science & Nature Center?
    • Yes, you can bring your dog. Just be sure to keep them leashed.
  • Can I bring a stroller to Leslie Science & Nature Center?
    • Yes, you can bring your stroller. Please note that the trails in the Black Pond Woods are not designed to be stroller-friendly.
  • Is Leslie Science & Nature Center wheelchair accessible?
    • The buildings and Nature Playscape at Leslie Science & Nature Center are wheelchair accessible. However, the trails in Black Pond Woods are not designed to be wheelchair accessible.
  • Is there a place to eat at Leslie Science & Nature Center?
    • Picnic tables may be available, if they are not being used by our educational programs. School groups wanting to reserve picnic table space can call us at (734) 995-5439.
  • Can I see the animals?
    • Our outdoor raptor enclosures are open to the public year-round, and are free and accessible. The wildlife in the Critter House can be visited during select hours.

  • How can I get involved at Leslie Science & Nature Center?
    • There are two great ways to get involved at Leslie Science & Nature Center:
      • Volunteers are needed year-round. Visit our volunteer page to learn more.
      • As a non-profit we are sustained through your giving. Visit our Support page to learn how you can help further our mission.
  • Is Leslie Science & Nature Center run by the City of Ann Arbor?
    • We work in partnership with the City of Ann Arbor, and the City manages the grounds and buildings. However, we are an independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, separate from the City.
