Dahlia Rose
Dahlia Rose, started working at Unity in Learning as a summer camp educator in 2024. She is an alum of the University of Michigan with her bachelor’s in Ecology, Evolution, and Biodiversity. She is passionate about encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in science. When Dahlia isn’t at work you will find her doing copious amounts of reading, enjoying the outdoors, or doing both at the same time.

Liv Steinert
Liv Steinert is a student at the University of Michigan pursuing her master's degree in the School for Environment and Sustainability. She is also a member of the Michigan Dance Team, where she enjoys performing and participating in community events alongside her teammates. With an academic focus in Behavior, Education, and Communication, Liv is passionate about working with children and helping to foster their developmental skills, as well as creating positive connections to our natural environment.

Mark Dettling
Mark Dettling has worked in bird conservation for the past 20 years and loves sharing his knowledge and passion for the natural world. As an Educator, he looks forward to inspiring curiosity in the sciences for all age groups. In his free time, Mark likes to bird watch, hike, paddle, and create things with wood.

Allison Smith
Allison Smith’s passion for science and the outdoors started from a young age, and has shaped her life and studies. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Environmental Science with a focus in Ecosystem Science and Management and Spatial Analysis. Now, inspired by the many teachers in her family, she is thrilled to pass both her knowledge and passion for STEM to others. When not at one of our UIL sites or studying, Allison can be found playing water polo or creating art based on nature.

Jaz Brennan
Jaz Brennan, is an Ann Arbor native joining the educator team to share her love of nature and
science with the youth of this area. As a social worker, community education has been a large
part of my career. The Hands-On Museum offers a connection to both STEAM education and childhood memories.

Daniela Ifju
Daniela Ifju grew up camping, climbing, hiking, and doing all things nature. Her passion for nature and philosophy in teaching led her to pursue her passion for place-based education. Now, as a part-time educator with Unity in Learning, Daniela will continue to foster holistic nature-based learning and opportunities for all ages. When not at one of the UIL sites or school, Daniela enjoys being outdoors, playing Scattergories with my friends, or hanging out with her cat Binx!

Amelia Lutey
Amelia Lutey has always had a curiosity about animals and nature. Part of this lead to her majoring in Environmental Science at Eastern Michigan University. She’s very excited to get others interested in the things she cares about through working at LSNC and AAHOM. If she’s not at school or working you can find her staying in and crafting or hanging with friends.

Lauryn Pickett
Lauryn Pickett is a student at the University of Michigan, studying psychology and English. In her free time, Lauryn enjoys reading, bullet journaling, and drinking chai lattes. She also loves spending time with her family and her dogs, Stella and Finn.

Elisa Watson
Elisa Watson started out hosting birthday parties, then found a home working at the front desk and museum store. She lives nearby with her husband and son and is hoping to make a return soon to studying anthropology. In the meantime, she enjoys learning languages, growing flowers and listening to people's stories.
