Cub Scout Tiger - Learn how to properly prepare for a hike in the woods, and then hit the trails! Through activities, games, and a hike we will discover what is “essential,” and how we can “leave no trace” all while exploring the wildlife—both in Black Pond Woods and in the Critter House— we are trying to protect!

Level: Cub Scout Tiger
Duration: 2 hours. Majority of these programs can occur during the day, with a select few available in evenings only. Programs occur rain or shine.
Cost: $120 starting fee for 12 scouts or less, with additional $10 per scout if more than 12 scouts attend.
Group Size: Up to 18 scouts. For more than 18 scouts, an additional $100 cost is applied.
Location & Parking: Leslie Science and Nature Center grounds. Programs may utilize buildings on site, as well as Black Pond Woods nature trails. Parking is limited, carpool if possible.
Cancellations and Payment : Final payments must be made the day of the program, unless otherwise arranged by Leslie Science & Nature Center. Non-weather related cancellations must occur 48 hours in advance, or a $50 processing fee will be charged. A refund may be given if a cancellation occurs more than 48 hours in advance. On our hike we’ll identify different native insects, plants, and birds that thrive in the woods, and practice leaving no trace as we explore wildlife up close. We’ll also introduce how to read a map, and try using symbols and landmarks to help us navigate through the woods.

Cub Scout Bear - Take a hike on the Black Pond Woods trail and discover what plants and animals call this place home, while also exploring how cultivated plants thrive in Project Grow’s gardens. Scouts will get the opportunity to meet and observe one native species up close and learn about the adaptions it has that allow it to survive and thrive.
