Enhance your “Unearth a Story” summer reading series with a colorful assortment of exclusive hands-on activities from the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and Leslie Science & Nature Center!
Choose from 3 different programs:

Super STEAM Festival
A Prehistoric Exploration for All Ages
Enhance your summer reading kickoff or celebration event
Bring the excitement of excavation and exploration to your library with a festival style experience filled with hands on discovery.
Visitors rotate through archaeology inspired activity stations that blend science, art, and the natural world into one immersive, prehistoric themed experience.
Program Details:
Duration: 2 hours, flexible
Age Range: All ages
Audience Size: No limit
Cost: $375 plus mileage
What’s Included:
Six different hands on activity stations
Activities designed for a wide range of ages and abilities
Indoor or outdoor setup, weather permitting
Library Requirements:
Six tables with chairs, one per activity
45 minutes for setup before the program
30 minutes for cleanup after the program
Up to three volunteers to assist with activities
Covered space required for indoor or outdoor setups

Rock On! Digging Into Earth’s Hidden Treasures
A hands on geology experience for curious minds
Leave no stone unturned as participants explore rocks, minerals, and the processes that formed them. Through experiments and observation, participants learn how scientists identify mystery specimens and uncover the stories written in stone.
Program Details
Duration: 1 hour
Age Range: Ages 8 and up
Audience Size: Up to 30 participants
Cost: $200 plus mileage
What’s Included
Testing tools for identifying rocks and minerals
A take home rock or mineral specimen for each participant
Option to book multiple sessions in one day
Library Requirements
Room with tables and chairs for participants
One table and chair for the presenter
Indoor or outdoor space
30 minutes for setup and 30 minutes for cleanup

Living Fossils
Discover how ancient adaptations live on today
Travel back millions of years to meet animals whose traits connect them to prehistoric life. Participants observe live animals up close while learning how adaptations and survival strategies have allowed these species to thrive through time.
Program Details:
Duration: 1 hour
Age Range: Ages 5 and up
Audience Size: Up to 50 participants
Cost: $300 plus mileage
What’s Included:
Three to four live animals
Interactive demonstrations and discussions
Option to book multiple sessions in one day
Library Requirements:
Indoor space only
Tables and chairs for participants
One table and chair for the presenter
30 minutes for setup and 30 minutes for cleanup
